Therapeutic Singing
Singing is one of the most intimate and healing means for a human to express themselves. Consequently it can also be the most terrifying as it leaves us completely exposed. The fear of “sounding bad” or being judged can be so debilitating, that some people will never even attempt to sing, even in the safety of solitude
To accept your own voice, is to accept a part of yourself. To free yourself from the inner voice that judges, that compares, and to just sing. To allow yourself permission to sing with the intent to FEEL GOOD, and not worry about sounding good. This is where we begin to heal. Once we accept the instrument we were born with, and lose the fear, the judgment, and just SING.
The better we feel - the better we sound.
Think about it, you can tell how a person is feeling just by the tone of their voice. If someone is nervous or sad, you can hear it in their voice. They will have a slight tightness or constriction in their throat. We can hear this when they speak, and it is easy to pick up on, especially on people we know well. Oppositely, When we feel confident, open, and expansive - that can also be heard when we speak as the throat is open and relaxed.
By allowing ourselves permission to sing from this feeling of openness can bring on exhilarating sensations and emotional release.
Singing is a powerful tool for self healing and personal growth.
Our Therapeutic singing sessions involve a mixture of modalities including breathwork, movement, vocal training, and expressive arts therapy.
